Cake Time!!

My dear friend Tammy gave me the most awesome gift......... a Cricut Cake!!!  I received it last Friday and felt like a little girl on Christmas morning. Gracias Tammy!!

I could not wait to use it, so Saturday was "The Day".  My friend Pilar came over to experiment with the new toy.  She is an expert on homemade fondant and had already created several cakes...without the cricut.  I, on the other hand, am not a baker.  I'm a cook and have never ventured into cake making...until now!

Here is our creation:

We used the "Cake Basics Cartridge" that came with the critcut for all the decorations.

White fondant is homemade with marshmallows, powdered sugar and Crisco. Pink fondant is store bought from Michael's,  we used Wiltons's Rose Petal Pink Icing Color. White flowers were made out of gum paste and we shaped them to give them a waivy look.  We had sooooo much fun using the Cricut Cake, so much so that we were covered in powdered sugar from head to toe!! :)

There is a learning curve with this cricut.  I need to try again to adjust the thickness of the fondant and gumpaste. I loved the experience and will be playing with it again soon!
