Happy Birthday Felipe!!!

My oldest son's birthday is on Wednesday, I can't believe he is going to be 12!!!!!!

We are starting to celebrate today by having a few friends over for breakfast and heading over to the new water park afterwards.

He is not fond of cakes (even though he wants one for Saturday) so this morning I went to the donut shop, got some sweet treats and prepare this donut-tower-cake for him. He was sooo excited when he woke up and saw it. :)

Do you see these cute blocks and party tags???? I went to The Little Blue House and created the blocks and some tags. The Lone Star

I went to The Little Blue House last week after the holiday weekend and they had a great sale.  All their Patriotic supplies were 30% off.  I just went to get some ink and end up buying supplies to make one of their projects at home: the "Metallicious Domed Star".  The ladies at the LBH are awesome, full of tallent and very fun to be around. Love them!!

To start, you will need a cardboard star, some patterned paper, metalic foil sheets, glue and red tape. The only tools needed are a paper cutter and your Cuttlebug with your choice envelope.

Ink the edges of the cardboard star so they show dark. Texture your foil with the cuttlebug and file it to bring up the silver color. Use red tape to glue the foil to the star.

Happy B day Patrice!!!

Yesterday was my friend Patrice's birthday.  I decided to do a "fancy fold card" for her. I got inspired by Mae Collins,  She has a great tutorial on her site. 

My papers are from Creative Memories and my stamp is a Magnolia Stamp colored with Copics.

The sentiment stamp is from "The Stamps of Life" by Stephanie Barnard.

Let's Celebrate!!!

Are you ready for the weekend??? I'm NOT!!!  :)  Here are my two projects for this holiday.

For my Patriotric banner, I used "American Made" paper by Denna Rutter. I love this collection, it has awesome papers.  For the letters and stars, I used glitter paper from Hobby Lobby (great for the Cricut). My ribbons came from Hobby Lobby, Michael's and JoAnn's. Who ever had them on sale!!

I also decorated a galvanized tub using the left over ribbons and adding three rossettes on the front.

If the Tiara Fits!!!

Yes, ladies, baking time again! Our friend and Piano teacher, Mary, is hosting a "Toddlers & Tiaras" Party at her home.  She asked if Pilar and I could put together a cake for this special occasion.  Why not?? .....and we came up with this idea. 

The tiara was cut with Cricut Cake using "Loopy Scallop Crown" file ( I don't remember where I got it). I modified it a little (stretched the top) to look more like a beauty pageant tiara and my Cricut Cake did the work. I love this bug!!!  The crown is made out of Gum Paste, colored with edible silver spray and decorated with rhinestones. The fondant I used on the cake is homemade marshmallow fondant. Recital Time!

Today is the DAY. The boys have their piano recital!!!

After the recital we'll have a small reception at church. Everybody will bring a dish to share.  This year, I didn't know what to make but I knew that I wanted to play with my Cricut Cake again.  I called Pilar and talked to her about baking together one more time, her kids are in the recital also.  So we put hands to work.  We are a good baking team. :)

I looked on line for ideas on "Musical Cakes" and  I got inspired by a picture posted at CakeCentral.com.  Here is our creation.

We used wooden dowels (5/16" x 36") to shaped the fondant and make it look like ribbons. If you are going to try, grease the dowels first with a little bit of Crisco before you roll the the fondant strips.

 I cut the music notes with my Cricut Cake using My ScrapChick file "Piano Players". Cute file!!

And here it's what I made with the leftover batter.  Cupcakes!!!

Using the regular Cricut, I cut a doily for the tray and made some wrappers for the cupcakes. I used some old music sheets from a book that I bought at Half Price Books.  If you need to do projects that involve music, it's the best way to go instead of trying to find scrapbook music looking paper.  (If I want the music sheets to look aged I used Distressed Inks).

Busy, Busy like a bee!!

I had been super busy making this awesome paper cakes for my friends.  I wanted to share them with you. I know that I already posted some of favor cake pictures in the past but these are so beautiful!!!

The first two cakes were for First Communion celebrations.  

And the last one for a Graduation party.

I used my Cricut to cut the boxes and flowers. The cake box pattern is from SVGCuts.com's  "Betty's Boxes and Bags" collection. I bought my ribbons and papers at Michael's, Joann's and Hobby Lobby ( I have the three of them close by) .  I assembled the boxes using my Scorpal to score the fold lines and glued them together with Scotch Quick-Dry Adhesive.
The paper roses on top of each slice are from SVGCuts.com's "Crush on You Boxes" file.
