Another birthday cake. This one was for a little girl that like BRIGHT colors :)

Banners

 I was asked by a friend to make a couple banners to decorate two auction baskets. 

The first one was a baby themed basket.  I used DCWV Nana's Nursery paper. Ribbon from Michael's and glitter letters from Recollections. I used a scalloped triangle SVG file for the pendants and cut them with SCAL.

 I added two pinwheels to the ends. The pinwheel paper is from Eco Park paper.

Here is the second basket. The theme was "Back to School".

Birthday Cake

Last week was a busy week. The boys went back to school, we had friends over for dinner and I baked a birthday cake for my friend's daughter on Saturday.

This time I used premade fondant from The Sweet Wise.  I bought a fondant mat a while ago and it came with this package of Elite Fondant. I had been using my homemade marshmallow fondant in all my cakes but I want it to used this premade and see if it was different from the one that Michael's sells.  Let me tell you, it was sooooo good not only was it easy to work with, but it tastes delicious.

This was the first time that I used "The Mat" and I'm in love with it.  It was so easy, no messy counter tops either!! Can I say it again?? ......Love it!! If you are curious about this mat go and watch their video.

The cake base was made out of three cardboard rounds put together with double sided tape. I covered it with pink cake foil from the local cake supply store.  I also covered the edge with ribbon from Hobby Lobby.

The cake was a buttermilk yellow cake with apricot buttercream filling. Yummy!!!

Back to School

The fun is over!!! My boys will start school tomorrow :(

In a way, they are excited to start a new year as a 7th and 3rd graders. I can't believe it, my babies are growing up soooo fast.

Tomorrow they'll meet their new teachers, get their schedules, take supplies to school, and most important thing according to them: see their buddies! :)

We are not the only ones getting ready for this new school year. The teachers has been at school for the last two weeks working and making sure that everything is ready.  I wanted to do something to thank them for their work and to welcome them back.

I used one of Lauren Meader's templates, "Pack a Picnic". I loved her templates and her svg from her Pretty Packinging Collection.

I decided to try with different papers.

For the bright colors, I used Echo Park Paper. The green Paper is  from their "Summer Days"  collection and The red from their "For The Record" collection. The ribbon is from Michael's and I colored a Prima white flower with Copic Marker R29 to match the paper.

The second choice was using vintage colors. For the box I used  "Chilled Strawberry Soup" from Jillibean Soup. The lid paper is "Sophisticates" by Stephanie Hunt. The ribbon came from Michael's and I colored the Prima flower with Alcohol ink "Cranberry".

Inside I put body lotion and anti-bacterial hand gel from Bath & Body Works.

First, Thanks Yolie for letting me be one of your guest. I love it. This is sooo HOT!!!

I had so much fun getting ready for this hop.  Ordinarily we spend our summers in Spain, this year we did not go. My oldest son's birthday is at the end July so he has never had a party at home with his friends until this year. I decided to give him a HOT birthday party.

Welcome ALOHA banner

To create this banner I used K&Company paper from their Citronella collection.  The font is Hawaiian Punk (downloaded free)  and I cut it via SCAL2. The Palm tree, flip flops and hibiscus are from Lettering Delights, Mahalo collection. The ribbons came from JoAnn's, Michaels and Hobby Lobby.

Here is the HOT cake!

The cake decorations are made out of gum paste and fondant. The palm trees have pretzel trunks and the leaves are cut with the Cricut Cake (don't remember the name of the file).  The surf board is from Lettering Delight collection "Mahalo" and cut with the Cricut Cake.  The beach hut is actually a frosting container with mini pretzels glued to it with colored buttercream. The rest of deco is made out of gum paste.

Smashed oreos create the dirt and Graham crackers create the sand.  :)

Mr. Tiki is made out of marshmallow fondant. He was sooooo sweet!!

The party was HOT and Philip had a great time. Finally a birthday in the USA!!!

Wedding Cake and Favors

This time, I adventured into wedding cakes.  :)

Pilar's brother got married this past Saturday,  it was a beautiful small wedding at her home. We had so much fun, my feet are still hurting from all of the dancing!!!

The bride wanted something simple with a flower bouquet as focal point.  After watching MANY videos on how to make gum paste roses, daisies and lilies on youtube, ee started to experiment. Little by little, and following directions with a lots of trial and error our floweres started to look nice.

The cake was a yellow cake with pecans and a strawberry cream filling.  It was "delicioso"!!!

The flowers were dusted with edible luster dust (pearl).

I love how all the flowers turned out.  The tutorials that we followed are from the Expertvillage and you can find them on youtube.com

I also created wedding favors for the happy event, I used a Lettering Delight file from the collection "Valentine Cone Boxes".

The white card stack that I used came from Core'dinations "Pearl" and assorted shimmer paper from JoAnn's. The ribbons are from JoAnn's.

Happy Birthday Felipe!!!

My oldest son's birthday is on Wednesday, I can't believe he is going to be 12!!!!!!

We are starting to celebrate today by having a few friends over for breakfast and heading over to the new water park afterwards.

He is not fond of cakes (even though he wants one for Saturday) so this morning I went to the donut shop, got some sweet treats and prepare this donut-tower-cake for him. He was sooo excited when he woke up and saw it. :)

Do you see these cute blocks and party tags???? I went to The Little Blue House and created the blocks and some tags. The Lone Star

I went to The Little Blue House last week after the holiday weekend and they had a great sale.  All their Patriotic supplies were 30% off.  I just went to get some ink and end up buying supplies to make one of their projects at home: the "Metallicious Domed Star".  The ladies at the LBH are awesome, full of tallent and very fun to be around. Love them!!

To start, you will need a cardboard star, some patterned paper, metalic foil sheets, glue and red tape. The only tools needed are a paper cutter and your Cuttlebug with your choice envelope.

Ink the edges of the cardboard star so they show dark. Texture your foil with the cuttlebug and file it to bring up the silver color. Use red tape to glue the foil to the star.

Yesterday was my friend Patrice's birthday.  I decided to do a "fancy fold card" for her. I got inspired by Mae Collins,  She has a great tutorial on her site. 

My papers are from Creative Memories and my stamp is a Magnolia Stamp colored with Copics.

The sentiment stamp is from "The Stamps of Life" by Stephanie Barnard.

Are you ready for the weekend??? I'm NOT!!!  :)  Here are my two projects for this holiday.

For my Patriotric banner, I used "American Made" paper by Denna Rutter. I love this collection, it has awesome papers.  For the letters and stars, I used glitter paper from Hobby Lobby (great for the Cricut). My ribbons came from Hobby Lobby, Michael's and JoAnn's. Who ever had them on sale!!
